Swimming and Running to lose fat
Well the weight has now dropped to 96Kgs. Still too much but I am making good progress. So I have lost 4-5 kilos of flab. I took some disks off my dumbells to check out how much weight this is like. It is alot! I cannot believe I was jogging with this kind of dead weight hanging on me before. In fact I must have lost more than this in fat since I have gained strength by weight training and the extra muscle must weigh something.
So now I am as keen as ever on training. I am eating less snack food too like peanuts. I always loved to swim so I found a local city pool. These are generally cheap to attend. My one has an outdoor pool area too which was great the other day when it was hot and sunny outside. I swam for around 50 minutes. This was the first time I swam properly for maybe 1 year so it was great to get back into it.
I was getting worried about the fitness of my computer-geek son so I suggested he go swimming with me since he has to do some exercise. Swimming is ideal since it is low-impact and works every part of your body. So today he came along. I was shocked as to how unfit he was and the skeleton-like body he has. Anyway, he did a few lengths and got worn out which is a first step. So we will be going swimming much more now.
I am finding running to be a great fat burner. I do 25-30 minutes of running very often now. I try and vary it by introducing hills and going down different routes. Like today I wore my Polar heart beat monitor, it gave an indication that I consumed in the region of 540 calories in my 25 minute run. That is equivalent to a few beers
