Eating Patterns

I wonder what most people’s eating patterns are like?

I have come across many people that do not eat any breakfast at home in the morning. However, many people regard this as the most important meal of the day.

Some people like to arrive at work and get a large coffee then mid morning have something like a bacon sandwich.

For lunch, the office canteen/restaurant provides them lunch. For the evening meal, I guess a lot depends on the time available and culinary skills or enthusiasm for cooking.

Do people still eat a supper?

And of course there are snacks to consider.

When I worked 9-5 in an office I ate breakfast at home which was cereal or toast. For lunch, I used to have a mug of soup made from a packet of soup powder. Then in the evening I had a large cooked meal with my family.

During this period of my life, I used to visit the gym, go jogging and swim each lunch time during the working week. My weight was in the normal range for my height at that time.

Now things are different since I had a lifestyle change. I now have a fruit for breakfast. I have a small or medium sized meal for lunch and either a large evening meal or no evening meal (peanut or dried squid snack instead).

Now, my wife often goes to work in the evenings so I tend to have the biggest meal of the day for lunch. Also I am reducing my weight after becoming overweight.

I am reducing my calorie intake and doing a lot of running. I started this regime around mid January when I weighed 100Kgs. Now I am down to 91Kgs.

It would be interesting to know what other people’s eating patterns are like…

I really don’t have much of an eating pattern, at present.

When I was on more of a regular eating pattern (that’s really a stretch) where I really concentrated was on breakfast and the supplements I took.

Having worked on the road a lot, it is difficult to maintain an eating pattern. What I would strive to do more of was to maintain food combining. Even if it was snack food I picked up along the way, I would make certain that I got sources of protein and complex carbs, and that I got protein from different sources.

Being that I don’t eat meat, it does become necessary to combine protein sources to make certain that one is getting a good selection of the different amino acids which comprise a complete protein.

Not always successful, or even paying attention, but I was more successful at doing it than not.
