Dieting Plateau
Most people that go on a diet will eventually hit a dieting plateau where their fat loss stops and their weight reduction levels out.
This happens because the initial effects of the sudden changes to your eating which resulted in weight loss have been adjusted to by your body. The adjustment is a combination of balancing of daily nutritional needs and adjustment of your body to breaking down and using the diet food.
Many people will at this point stop dieting or switch to yet another diet. This is one approach that may work, but if you are consuming more food than your body needs then this will not work since the excess energy will be stored as fat. If you don’t burn many calories in a day then it is easy to over eat.
The best way to eliminate a dieting plateau is to stop the never ending cycle of going on and off diets and simply to learn how to eat better. By this I mean, learn what foods are healthy to eat and help rather than hinder fat loss. Also learn how to prepare the food and how to schedule your meals.
Then, introduce more activity into your daily life so that your energy consumption is raised to a level where your body does not need to store the excess intake as fat.
An easy way to tell if you are over eating is if you never feel hungry i.e. your stomach doesn’t rumble before meals.
So once you are eating correctly and becoming more active, the only plateau you should notice is when you reach your ideal weight.
