Burning Calories by Jogging
Today I went jogging for 45 minutes over flat terrain and wore my calorie counting gear comprising a heart rate monitor strap and my Polar watch.
In total I burnt 732 calories but I had the weight setting too high since I wore a backpack last time and carried a video camera so the results are slightly out.
During the run my heart rate was mostly in the intense level of training zone which is what I like. In gyms, they tell you to train for a long time at low intensity to burn fat and train for a shorter time at high intensity to gain fitness. Well, I don’t like that approach. Hard training is going to build fitness, muscle and lose fat at the same time in my opinion. How can it possibly not?
Your muscles are like the parts of an engine that need fuel. Work them hard and they will burn your fuel i.e. the food and fat. When they ache, they rebuild consuming yet more energy.
The only limit to how hard you can train is your fitness level and maximum heart rate ability. So why waste time with low intensity exercise?
