Adding Variety to Your Training
Aerobic training takes time like 30 minutes plus to perform so it can get boring if you do the same thing each time.
Here are some of the ways that I varied my training recently:
- reversed the direction of my run/walk route
- took a detour out of curiosity down a path on the top of a hill that provided a great alternative route and a sense of adventure
- attended a beach party and wore myself out playing with jet skiis, one of which involved hauling myself back up into the riding position many times
- cycling to the beach and back to check out what was going on there (32 kilometers and over 700 calories burned)
Also, on the iPhone I downloaded an exercise application that shows you how to do many different exercises so I can work through them to have a great variety of the way I work out at home. I try and do a couple of sets of body weight resistance exercises every couple of days or so. But I try and do some fat-burning aerobic exercise almost every day.
Earlier this year my weight was at close to 100Kgs and now it is down to 93Kgs and I am starting to look fairly fit I think. But what I really want to do is lose the love handles at my sides. So that is the main motivation for my current weight-loss regime.
So I hope you got some ideas from this post about varying how you exercise to avoid boredom and still burn the calories. Share your tips in the comments …
