2007 Weightloss Plan

Oh dear, I was back to my 0.1 ton weight again after Christmas and New Year celebrations. At least, this year I don’t look so fat but a combination of bulk. I flicked through Chris Ryan’s SAS Fitness Book which is a kind of macho-man’s fitness manual. It suits me since I am this kind of person.

In the book, Chris has a great tip to give yourself motivation and that is to photograph yourself each week during your training. The idea is that you won’t tend to notice the gradual change in your body but the photos will make it clear. Chris’s own example pictures provide a great illustration of the change that is possible over a 6-week period.

I am not expecting to get such fast results since I am not training for an SAS mission and I am not desperate enough to cut out my pleasure of wine from my fluid intake as if I was captured behind enemy lines. But I like physical exercise so I can at least make progress. So out came the digi-camera and I kitted up in my shorts for a photo of the baseline post-Christmas fat bastard.

So for my training program I went with the level one exercises from the book. I am not a beginner but I am out of shape so need a basic fitness program to get started again. Since I am exercising from home, I use dumbells in place of a bar bell and instead of the cable push-downs I can do tricep push-ups on the edge of my workout bench. This is some exercise which I thought up myself a few years back and needs an illustration sometime.

Anyway, to appreciate what I am refering to here, you need the book: Chris Ryan’s SAS Fitness Book
